Ingredients
Tomato Sauce
- 1 1/2 pounds cherry tomatoes, halved
- 3 tablespoons olive oil
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes
- 1/4 cup fresh basil, chopped
Instructions
- Prepare Tomatoes: Wash the cherry tomatoes thoroughly and cut them in halves to ensure even cooking and flavor release.
- Sauté and Simmer: Preheat a large skillet over medium-low heat and add 3 tablespoons of olive oil. Add the halved cherry tomatoes along with 1/2 teaspoon of salt, 1/2 teaspoon of garlic powder, and 1/4 teaspoon of red pepper flakes. Stir the mixture, cover the skillet with a lid, and let it simmer gently for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally to prevent sticking and ensure even cooking.
- Add Basil and Finish Cooking: After the initial simmer, add 1/4 cup of chopped fresh basil to the skillet. Stir well and allow the sauce to cook for an additional 5 minutes uncovered to blend the flavors and slightly reduce the sauce.
- Serve: Remove from heat and serve the sauce hot over cooked spaghetti or any pasta of your choice for a delicious, fresh meal.
Notes
- Use ripe cherry tomatoes for the best flavor.
- Adjust red pepper flakes to your heat preference.
- Feel free to add a splash of pasta water if the sauce seems too thick.
- Fresh basil is key to brightening the sauce, so avoid dried if possible.
- This sauce can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
