Ingredients
Salmon Bites
- 1 ½ pounds salmon, about 4 filets, skins removed, cut into 1-inch bites
- 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon kosher salt
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
Bang Bang Sauce
- 1 cup (232 g) mayonnaise
- ½ cup (132 g) Thai sweet chili sauce
- 2 teaspoons Sriracha (or more to taste)
- 2 tablespoons honey
- Chives, for garnish
Instructions
- Preheat the air fryer. Set your air fryer to 390°F to ensure it reaches the optimal temperature for cooking the salmon bites evenly with a crispy exterior.
- Mix the spice seasoning. In a large bowl, combine the olive oil, paprika, garlic powder, kosher salt, and black pepper to create a flavorful seasoning mix.
- Coat the salmon bites. Add the cut salmon pieces into the bowl and gently toss to ensure every bite is evenly coated with the spice mixture.
- Prepare the bang bang sauce. In a separate bowl, thoroughly mix the mayonnaise, Thai sweet chili sauce, Sriracha, and honey until smooth and well combined.
- Divide the sauce. Pour half of the bang bang sauce into another bowl and set it aside for serving after cooking. Toss the salmon bites in the remaining half to coat them before air frying.
- Cook the salmon bites in batches. Place an even layer of the coated salmon bites into the air fryer basket, taking care not to overcrowd for maximum crispness.
- Air fry the bites. Cook the salmon bites at 390°F for 4-5 minutes, then flip them gently and cook for an additional 4-5 minutes. Check for an internal temperature between 140-145°F to ensure they are perfectly cooked.
- Coat cooked salmon with reserved sauce. Remove salmon bites from the air fryer and toss them in the reserved half of the bang bang sauce to add extra flavor and a creamy finish.
- Serve with garnish. Transfer the coated salmon bites to a serving plate and garnish generously with chopped chives for a fresh, vibrant touch.
Notes
- Do not overcrowd the air fryer basket to ensure even cooking and crispiness.
- If you prefer spicier bites, add more Sriracha to the bang bang sauce.
- Salmon can be checked with a meat thermometer; cooked salmon should reach 140-145°F for safe consumption.
- Leftover bang bang sauce keeps well in the fridge for up to 3 days and can be used as a dip.
- Skin-on salmon filets can be used if preferred but may alter cooking time and texture.
