Ingredients
Cauliflower
- 1 head cauliflower, cut into florets (about 4 to 5 cups)
Sauce
- 2 tablespoons butter, melted
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- ½ cup Frank’s Red Hot Sauce
Breading
- ½ cup almond flour (or all-purpose flour)
- 3 tablespoons dried parsley
- ½ tablespoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon Lawry’s Seasoning Salt
Instructions
- Prepare Cauliflower: Place cauliflower florets in a large mixing bowl and set aside for coating.
- Make Sauce: Melt the butter, then stir in the olive oil and Frank’s Red Hot Sauce until thoroughly combined to form the buffalo sauce.
- Coat Cauliflower: Pour the buffalo sauce mixture over the cauliflower florets, mixing well to ensure each piece is evenly coated.
- Prepare Breading: In a separate bowl, whisk together almond flour, dried parsley, garlic powder, and Lawry’s Seasoning Salt.
- Bread Cauliflower: Sprinkle the almond flour mixture over the sauced cauliflower a handful at a time, gently mixing until all florets are fully coated.
- Air Fry – Batch 1: Transfer half of the coated cauliflower to the air fryer basket. Air fry at 350˚F for 15 minutes, shaking the basket a couple of times during cooking for even crisping. Look for slightly browned edges without mushiness.
- Keep Warm: Remove cooked cauliflower from the air fryer and keep covered to retain warmth while cooking the remaining batch.
- Air Fry – Batch 2: Repeat the air frying process with the remaining cauliflower florets.
- Serve: Serve the crispy buffalo cauliflower bites with celery sticks and bleu cheese dressing for dipping.
- Oven Alternative: Toss the cauliflower florets in the buffalo sauce and breading as described. Arrange on a foil-lined baking pan and bake at 450˚F for 15 minutes, gently stirring halfway through to ensure even cooking.
Notes
- Using almond flour makes this recipe gluten-free; all-purpose flour works as an alternative.
- Adjust the amount of hot sauce to control the level of spiciness.
- For extra crispiness, shake the air fryer basket every 5 minutes while cooking.
- Serve with classic buffalo wing accompaniments such as celery sticks and bleu cheese or ranch dressing.
- To keep bites warm before serving, cover them loosely with foil.
