Ingredients
Chicken
- 2 large skinless chicken breasts (approx. 9oz / 275g each)
Seasoning
- 1 tsp thyme (ground or fresh)
- 1 tsp oregano
- 1/2 tsp rosemary (dried or fresh, finely chopped)
- 1 tsp onion powder
- 1/2 tsp ground black pepper
- 1/2 tsp salt
Instructions
- Preheat Air Fryer: Preheat your air fryer to 350°F (175°C) to ensure it’s at the right temperature for even cooking of the chicken breasts.
- Prepare the Chicken: Place the chicken breast on a cutting board and cover the top with cling wrap to prevent splatter and keep the surface clean.
- Pound Chicken for Even Thickness: Using a meat mallet’s smooth end or a rolling pin, gently pound the thicker end of each chicken breast to achieve a uniform thickness of about 1.5 inches. This promotes even cooking.
- Mix Seasonings: In a small bowl, combine thyme, oregano, rosemary, onion powder, salt, and black pepper to create the poultry seasoning blend.
- Season the Chicken: Apply the seasoning mix evenly to all sides of each chicken breast. You might not need all the seasoning, so adjust according to taste.
- Air Fry the Chicken: Place the seasoned chicken breasts in a single layer inside the air fryer basket. Cook for up to 20 minutes, flipping halfway if necessary, depending on your air fryer’s model and the breast size.
- Check Internal Temperature: Use a digital thermometer to ensure the chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C) for safe consumption.
- Rest and Serve: Once cooked, let the chicken rest for a few minutes to allow juices to redistribute before slicing and serving.
Notes
- Thickness of chicken breasts affects cooking time; adjust accordingly.
- Internal temperature must reach 165°F for food safety.
- Seasonings can be substituted or adjusted based on preference.
- Resting the chicken after cooking improves juiciness.
- Cooking times may vary depending on the air fryer model.
