Ingredients
Potatoes
- 4 medium potatoes (Russet or Yukon gold)
Butter Mixture
- 6 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp pepper
Garnish
- 1 tbsp parsley, chopped
Instructions
- Prepare the Potatoes: Place two knives or chopsticks on either side of each potato to guide your slices. Slice the potatoes thinly, about 3 to 4 mm apart, stopping when you reach the knives to avoid cutting all the way through. Repeat for all four potatoes and set aside.
- Make the Garlic Butter Mixture: In a small bowl, combine the melted butter, minced garlic, salt, and pepper. Stir well until all ingredients are fully mixed.
- Brush Potatoes with Butter: Using a pastry brush, carefully coat the tops and inside the potato slices with the garlic butter mixture. Be gentle to keep the potatoes intact. Reserve any leftover butter mixture for later.
- Air Fry the Potatoes – First Stage: Place the potatoes upright in the air fryer basket and set the temperature to 375°F (190°C). Air fry the potatoes for 10 minutes to start cooking and crisping the edges.
- Apply More Butter Mixture: After 10 minutes, carefully brush the potatoes with the remaining butter mixture. If you have no leftover mixture, melt an additional tablespoon of butter to apply.
- Air Fry the Potatoes – Final Stage: Continue air frying the potatoes at 375°F for another 15 minutes, or until they are tender throughout and have a crispy edge on the outside.
- Serve and Garnish: Remove the potatoes from the air fryer and sprinkle them with chopped parsley before serving. Enjoy your perfectly cooked Hasselback potatoes!
Notes
- Use knives or chopsticks as slicing guides to avoid cutting potatoes all the way through.
- If you don’t have an air fryer, you can bake these potatoes in a conventional oven at 400°F for 45-50 minutes, brushing occasionally with butter.
- Russet potatoes yield a crispier texture, while Yukon Gold potatoes offer a creamier bite.
- Adjust garlic and seasoning amounts to taste if desired.
- Serve these as a side dish for grilled meats, roasted vegetables, or as part of a comforting meal.
