Ingredients
Fruit
- 2 ripe but firm pears, halved and cored
Cheese & Nuts
- 1/2 cup crumbled feta cheese
- 2 tbsp chopped walnuts (optional)
Fruits & Sweeteners
- 2 tbsp dried cranberries
- 2 tbsp honey
Other Ingredients
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- Pinch of cinnamon
- Fresh thyme leaves (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and prepare a baking dish by lining it with parchment paper to prevent sticking and ease cleanup.
- Prepare the pears: Arrange the pear halves cut-side up in the baking dish. Brush each pear half lightly with olive oil to help them roast evenly and sprinkle a pinch of cinnamon over the pears to add warmth and subtle spice.
- Fill the pears: Spoon the crumbled feta cheese evenly into the cavity of each pear half. Then, scatter the dried cranberries and optional chopped walnuts on top of the cheese for texture and tartness.
- Bake the pears: Place the baking dish in the oven and bake the pears for 20 to 25 minutes, or until the pears become tender and the feta cheese turns golden and slightly melted.
- Finish and garnish: Remove the baking dish from the oven. Drizzle the baked pears generously with honey for natural sweetness, then garnish with fresh thyme leaves if using, to add a fragrant herbal note.
- Serve: Serve the baked pears warm as either a sophisticated appetizer or a delicious dessert, perfect for sharing with guests or enjoying quietly at home.
Notes
- Choose pears that are ripe yet firm so they hold their shape during baking.
- Walnuts are optional but add a nice crunch and complement the cranberries.
- Fresh thyme adds a lovely aroma but can be omitted if unavailable.
- Serve warm for the best flavor and texture experience.
- This dish pairs well with a crisp white wine or a light dessert wine.
