This Banana Bread Latte is a warm and comforting coffee drink that combines the sweet, rich flavors of banana bread with freshly brewed espresso and frothy milk. Slightly spiced with cinnamon and vanilla, it’s perfect for a cozy morning or afternoon treat.

  • Total Time: 20 minutes
  • Yield: 2 servings

Ingredients

Syrup Ingredients

  • 1 large very ripe banana, mashed
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • 1 cup water
  • ½ tsp cinnamon
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt

Latte Ingredients

  • 2 shots of espresso
  • 2 cups milk of choice

Instructions

  1. Make the Banana Syrup: In a small saucepan over medium heat, combine the mashed banana, brown sugar, and water. Bring the mixture to a simmer and cook for 7-8 minutes until it thickens and becomes bubbly.
  2. Add Spices: Stir in the cinnamon, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt to the saucepan mixture, blending all flavors together.
  3. Blend or Strain Syrup: Transfer the syrup to a blender or food processor and blend until smooth. Alternatively, pour the syrup through a fine mesh sieve to remove any lumps for a smoother texture.
  4. Brew the Espresso: Prepare 2 shots of espresso using your preferred method.
  5. Combine Syrup and Espresso: Add 3 tablespoons of the prepared banana syrup to the espresso and stir well to combine the flavors.
  6. Heat the Milk: Warm the milk and pour between ½ to ¾ cup into each glass mug.
  7. Froth the Remaining Milk: Froth the leftover milk until light and airy. Spoon a layer of the frothed milk on top of each latte to create a creamy foam.
  8. Garnish and Serve: Finish each banana bread latte with a sprinkle of ground cinnamon for added aroma and flavor. Serve immediately and enjoy your cozy drink.

Notes

  • Use very ripe bananas for the best natural sweetness and flavor intensity.
  • Milk of choice can be dairy or plant-based depending on preference.
  • Adjust the amount of banana syrup to taste depending on desired sweetness.
  • For a stronger coffee flavor, add an extra shot of espresso.
  • The syrup can be made ahead and stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
