Big Mac Egg Rolls are a deliciously crispy twist on the classic Big Mac, combining all the iconic flavors of the beloved burger in a convenient egg roll form. These egg rolls feature seasoned ground beef, diced pickles, onions, and melted American cheese wrapped in crispy egg roll wrappers, served with a homemade special sauce that perfectly mimics the original Big Mac dressing. Healthier than takeout and easy to prepare at home using an air fryer, stovetop frying, or oven baking.

  • Total Time: 25 minutes
  • Yield: 12 egg rolls

Ingredients

Egg Rolls

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 pickles, diced
  • ½ small onion, diced
  • 12 slices American cheese
  • 12 egg roll wrappers
  • 1 teaspoon sesame seeds (optional)

Special Sauce

  • 4 tablespoons mayonnaise
  • 2 tablespoons ketchup
  • 1 ½ tablespoons relish
  • 1 tablespoon mustard
  • 2 teaspoons apple cider vinegar

Instructions

  1. Cook the Ground Beef: In a medium-sized frying pan, cook 1 lb of ground beef over medium heat until fully cooked, about 10 minutes. Drain excess fat and season the meat with 1 teaspoon garlic powder, salt, and pepper to taste.
  2. Assemble the Egg Rolls: Lay one egg roll wrapper flat. Place one slice of American cheese in the center, then add 2-3 spoonfuls of the cooked ground beef, followed by some diced pickles and diced onions. Wet the edges of the wrapper with water, fold in two opposite corners towards the center, then tightly roll the wrapper to seal the filling inside. Repeat with remaining wrappers.
  3. Cook the Egg Rolls – Air Fryer Method: Brush both sides of the egg rolls with oil. Place them in the air fryer basket and cook at 400°F for 5-10 minutes until golden brown, flipping halfway through and brushing with additional oil as needed. Once cooked, sprinkle with sesame seeds if desired.
  4. Cook the Egg Rolls – Stovetop Method: Heat oil in a deep pot over medium heat. Fry the egg rolls in small batches for about 5 minutes or until golden brown and crispy. Drain on paper towels and sprinkle with sesame seeds.
  5. Cook the Egg Rolls – Oven Method: Preheat oven to 400°F. Brush both sides of egg rolls with oil. Place directly on a foil-lined sheet pan or on a rack over the pan. Bake for 10-15 minutes until golden brown, flipping halfway through and brushing with more oil as needed. Top with sesame seeds once done.
  6. Prepare the Special Sauce: In a small bowl, stir together 4 tablespoons mayonnaise, 2 tablespoons ketchup, 1 ½ tablespoons relish, 1 tablespoon mustard, and 2 teaspoons apple cider vinegar until smooth and well combined.
  7. Serve: Serve the hot egg rolls with the homemade special sauce for dipping. Enjoy this healthier, flavorful take on a classic Big Mac!

Notes

  • You can use either air fryer, deep frying on the stovetop, or oven baking based on your preference and available equipment.
  • For extra crispiness, air fry or deep fry rather than baking.
  • If you want to reduce sodium, choose low-sodium pickles and cheese.
  • Make sure to seal the egg rolls tightly to prevent filling from leaking during cooking.
  • To store, keep cooked egg rolls in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat in an air fryer for best results.
