This Blueberry Overnight Oats recipe combines wholesome rolled oats with creamy yogurt and fresh blueberries, blended into a smooth, delicious batter. Topped with luscious melted dark chocolate, it’s a nutritious, make-ahead breakfast that’s ready to enjoy cold after chilling overnight.

  • Total Time: 1 hour 40 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings

Ingredients

Oat Base

  • 2 cups rolled oats (Approx. 240g)
  • ½ cup milk of choice (Any plant-based or dairy milk; approx. 125ml)
  • 1 cup frozen blueberries (Approx. 150g)
  • 1 cup thick natural or Greek yogurt (I use soy; approx. 250g)
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract (Approx. 8g)
  • 1-2 tsp maple syrup (Optional; approx. 5–10g)
  • ⅛ tsp salt (Approx. 0.25g)

Toppings

  • 1 cup blueberries (Fresh or frozen)
  • 80 g dark chocolate (Melted and slightly cooled)
  • ½ tbsp coconut oil (Optional; helps thin chocolate)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Blend: Add rolled oats, milk, frozen blueberries, yogurt, vanilla extract, maple syrup (if using), and salt to a high-speed blender to combine all ingredients thoroughly.
  2. Blend Thoroughly: Blend on high speed until the mixture is smooth and creamy, resembling a thick batter, ensuring the oats and frozen blueberries are fully incorporated.
  3. Layer Blueberries: Divide the fresh or frozen blueberries evenly between 4 jars or containers as the base layer for texture and flavor contrast.
  4. Pour Oat Mixture: Pour the blended oat batter over the blueberries in each container, then gently smooth the surface with a spoon or spatula.
  5. Prepare Chocolate Topping: If using, stir the melted dark chocolate together with coconut oil until well combined and slightly thinned for easy pouring, then drizzle over the top of each container.
  6. Chill to Set: Seal the containers securely and refrigerate for at least 1½ hours or overnight to let the oats absorb moisture and flavors fully while chilling the dessert-like dish.
  7. Serve: Enjoy the overnight oats cold, straight from the fridge, for a refreshing and satisfying breakfast or snack.

Notes

  • For a vegan version, use plant-based milk and soy or coconut yogurt.
  • The chocolate topping is optional but adds a rich, indulgent flavor.
  • Maple syrup can be adjusted or omitted depending on desired sweetness.
  • Overnight soaking helps soften the oats and blend flavors perfectly.
  • Use a high-speed blender for best texture and smoothness.
