Ingredients
Dough
- 4 tablespoons butter, melted
- 4 tablespoons water
- 1/4 cup instant vanilla pudding mix
- 1 cup milk
- 1 egg, beaten
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 4 cups bread flour (preferred)
- 2 1/2 teaspoons active dry yeast
Filling
- 10 tablespoons butter, melted
- 1 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 4 teaspoons ground cinnamon
Frosting
- 4 ounces cream cheese, softened
- 1/4 cup butter, softened
- 1 1/2 cup powdered sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 1/2 teaspoons milk
Instructions
- Prepare Dough: Place the dough ingredients (melted butter, water, instant pudding mix, milk, beaten egg, sugar, salt, bread flour, and active dry yeast) into the bread machine pan in the order recommended by your bread machine manufacturer. Set the machine to the dough cycle and start it.
- Roll Out Dough: When the dough cycle completes, remove the dough from the machine and roll it out onto a floured surface into a rectangle approximately 17×10 inches in size.
- Make Filling: In a small bowl, combine the melted butter with the brown sugar and cinnamon, stirring until fully mixed.
- Apply Filling: Evenly spread the cinnamon-brown sugar butter mixture over the rolled-out dough, ensuring full coverage.
- Roll and Slice: Starting with one of the long edges, tightly roll the dough into a log. Pinch the edges to seal. Cut the rolled dough into 1/2 inch thick slices; you can slice thicker if you prefer larger rolls.
- Arrange and Rise: Place the rolls into a greased 9×13 inch baking dish, spaced slightly apart. Cover and allow them to rise until doubled in size, about 30-45 minutes depending on room temperature.
- Bake: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake the rolls in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes until golden brown but not overbaked.
- Prepare Frosting: While the rolls bake, mix the softened cream cheese and butter with the powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and milk until smooth and creamy.
- Frost Rolls: Spread the cream cheese frosting over the warm cinnamon rolls right after removing them from the oven for a melty, delicious finish.
Notes
- Use bread flour for a chewier, better-structured dough but all-purpose flour can be used if necessary.
- Instant vanilla pudding mix helps create a tender and moist dough.
- Make sure not to overbake the rolls to keep them soft and fluffy.
- If you don’t have a bread machine, you can prepare the dough by hand or with a stand mixer using the same ingredients.
- For larger rolls, slice the dough roll to about 3/4 inch thick instead of 1/2 inch.
- Allow the rolls to cool slightly before frosting to prevent the frosting from melting too much and sliding off.
