Ingredients
For the Beef:
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 small sweet onion, diced
- 1 pound ground beef (80/20)
- 1 teaspoon kosher salt
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
For the Bowl:
- 1 head lettuce, shredded
- 1 cup cherry tomatoes, halved
- 1 cup pickles, sliced
- ½ medium red onion, thinly sliced
- 1 avocado, sliced
- Fries or sweet potato fries (optional)
For the Burger Sauce:
- ½ cup burger sauce (store-bought or homemade)
Instructions
- Prepare Fries: Prepare the fries in the air fryer or oven according to package directions until crispy. This step adds a crunchy element to your bowl if desired.
- Make Burger Sauce: In a small bowl, whisk together the burger sauce ingredients until smooth. Refrigerate until ready to use for the best flavor and integration.
- Sauté Onions: Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the diced sweet onion and sauté for 3–5 minutes, until softened and slightly translucent, which brings out their sweetness.
- Cook Ground Beef: Increase the heat to medium-high. Add the ground beef, kosher salt, onion powder, garlic powder, and smoked paprika. Break the meat apart and cook for 5–7 minutes, until browned and fully cooked to develop rich flavor.
- Drain Excess Fat: Carefully drain any excess oil from the skillet or blot the cooked beef with a paper towel for a lighter, less greasy bowl.
- Assemble Bowl: Divide the shredded lettuce evenly among serving bowls. Top with the cooked beef, halved cherry tomatoes, sliced pickles, thinly sliced red onion, sliced avocado, and fries if using.
- Serve: Drizzle generously with burger sauce over each bowl and serve immediately to enjoy the fresh, savory flavors at their best.
Notes
- Use ground beef with a fat content of 20% for juiciness and flavor.
- Feel free to substitute ground turkey or chicken for a leaner option.
- The burger sauce can be homemade with mayonnaise, ketchup, mustard, and pickles or store-bought.
- Shredded lettuce works best for texture, but baby spinach or mixed greens can be used as alternatives.
- To keep the bowl low carb, omit fries or use sweet potato fries sparingly.
- Adjust seasoning on beef to taste—add more smoked paprika or garlic powder if desired.
