  • Total Time: 30 minutes
  • Yield: 12 rolls

Ingredients

Creamy Remoulade Sauce

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 garlic clove, minced
  • 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon Cajun seasoning
  • ½ teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • ¼ cup grated parmesan cheese
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Cajun Butter Rolls

  • 12 Hawaiian rolls
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, melted
  • ½ cup grated parmesan cheese
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 teaspoon chopped fresh parsley
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • ½ teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • ½ teaspoon dried oregano
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon white pepper

Instructions

  1. Make the creamy remoulade sauce: Heat olive oil in a medium saucepan over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for 30 seconds until fragrant. Whisk in the flour, Cajun seasoning, and smoked paprika until well combined. Gradually pour in the heavy cream while whisking constantly. Reduce the heat to low and let the sauce simmer for about 2 minutes until it thickens.
  2. Add flavorings to the sauce: Stir in Worcestershire sauce, Dijon mustard, and grated parmesan cheese until the cheese has melted smoothly into the sauce. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Remove from heat and set aside to keep warm.
  3. Prepare the bread rolls: Slice the edges off the Hawaiian rolls to create even square-shaped pieces for uniform cooking and presentation.
  4. Make the Cajun butter mixture: In a large bowl, combine melted unsalted butter, grated parmesan, minced garlic, chopped fresh parsley, paprika, onion powder, cayenne pepper, dried oregano, garlic powder, salt, and white pepper. Stir thoroughly to create an evenly seasoned butter blend.
  5. Brush the rolls with Cajun butter: Generously brush the seasoned butter mixture over all sides of each prepared roll, ensuring they are well coated to impart maximum flavor.
  6. Pan-toast the rolls: Heat a large nonstick sauté pan over medium heat. Arrange the butter-brushed rolls in an even layer in the pan. Cook until the bottoms turn golden brown, then flip each roll and continue cooking until all sides are browned and crispy, approximately a few minutes per side depending on your stovetop.
  7. Serve: Remove the rolls from the pan and serve immediately while warm, accompanied with the creamy remoulade sauce for dipping.

Notes

  • For an extra kick, sprinkle additional cayenne pepper over the rolls before pan-toasting.
  • Use fresh Hawaiian rolls for the softest texture, but any soft dinner rolls can work.
  • The remoulade sauce can be made ahead and reheated gently before serving.
  • If you prefer, cook the rolls under a broiler or in an air fryer to achieve a similar golden crust.
  • Store any leftovers in an airtight container and reheat in a toaster oven or skillet to maintain crispness.
