This Cajun Garlic Butter Sauce is a flavorful and versatile sauce ready in just 10 minutes. Perfect for slathering, dipping, or drizzling over steaks, chicken, or seafood, especially great for enhancing your next seafood boil with a spicy, buttery kick.

  • Total Time: 10 minutes
  • Yield: 8 servings

Ingredients

Cajun Garlic Butter Sauce

  • 1 stick butter, divided
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced or grated
  • 1 Tablespoon lemon juice
  • 2 Tablespoons Cajun seasoning (homemade or storebought)
  • 1 Tablespoon fresh parsley, minced

Homemade Cajun Seasoning

  • 3 Tablespoons smoked paprika
  • 1 Tablespoon onion powder
  • 1 Tablespoon garlic powder
  • 2 teaspoons kosher salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground white pepper
  • 1 teaspoon ground mustard
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • ½ teaspoon dried basil

Instructions

  1. Melt Butter and Sauté Garlic: Melt 1 tablespoon of butter in a small saucepan over low heat. Add the minced or grated garlic and cook gently for 1 minute, allowing the garlic to infuse the butter without browning.
  2. Add Remaining Ingredients and Simmer: Add the remaining butter, fresh parsley, lemon juice, and Cajun seasoning to the saucepan. Whisk everything together well and let it cook together over low heat for 5 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld and the sauce to thicken slightly.
  3. Prepare Cajun Seasoning (Optional): To make the homemade Cajun seasoning, mix smoked paprika, onion powder, garlic powder, kosher salt, white pepper, ground mustard, dried oregano, dried thyme, cayenne pepper, and dried basil thoroughly in a bowl. Use 2 tablespoons of this seasoning in the sauce and store the rest for future recipes.

Notes

  • This sauce is best served warm and can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
  • Adjust the cayenne pepper amount in the seasoning if you prefer milder or spicier heat.
  • Perfect accompaniment for seafood boils, grilled meats, or as a dipping sauce.
  • If using storebought Cajun seasoning, verify the salt content to avoid oversalting.
  • For a smoother texture, strain the sauce before serving.
