This Cajun Honey Butter Salmon is a flavorful and quick dish perfect for a weeknight dinner. The salmon fillets are seasoned with a zesty Cajun spice blend, seared to develop a crispy crust, and then spooned with a luscious honey butter sauce infused with garlic, soy sauce, and fresh lemon juice. Garnished with fresh parsley, lemon wedges, and black sesame seeds, this recipe balances spicy, sweet, and savory flavors effortlessly.

  • Total Time: 25 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings

Ingredients

Salmon

  • 4 salmon fillets (skin on)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons Cajun seasoning
  • salt (to taste)

Honey Butter Sauce

  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 2 cloves garlic (minced)
  • juice of ½ lemon

Garnish

  • fresh parsley (chopped, for garnish)
  • lemon wedges (for serving)
  • black sesame seeds (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Season the Salmon: Pat the salmon fillets dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture. Rub each fillet evenly with olive oil, then sprinkle generously with Cajun seasoning and salt according to taste.
  2. Sear the Salmon: Heat a large nonstick skillet over medium-high heat. Place the salmon fillets skin-side up in the pan and sear for about 3 minutes until a golden crust forms. Flip the fillets so the skin side is down and cook for an additional 2 minutes.
  3. Make the Honey Butter Sauce: While the salmon is cooking, melt the butter in a small saucepan over medium heat. Add honey, soy sauce, and minced garlic, stirring to combine. Let the sauce simmer gently for a couple of minutes to meld the flavors, then remove from heat and stir in the freshly squeezed lemon juice.
  4. Combine and Cook: Pour the honey butter sauce over the salmon fillets in the skillet. Continue to cook the salmon, spooning the sauce over the top regularly, for another 3-5 minutes until the salmon is cooked through.
  5. Garnish and Serve: Remove the skillet from heat. Garnish the salmon with freshly chopped parsley, scatter black sesame seeds on top, and serve immediately with lemon wedges on the side.

Notes

  • You can substitute maple syrup for honey if preferred.
  • Adjust Cajun seasoning quantity based on your spice tolerance.
  • Use skin-on salmon for a crispier texture and to help keep the fillets intact while cooking.
  • To ensure even cooking, allow salmon to come to room temperature before cooking.
  • Pair this dish with steamed vegetables or a light salad for a complete meal.
