Ingredients
Quesadilla Ingredients
- 4 large flour tortillas (homemade or uncooked TortillaLand tortillas preferred)
- 2 cups shredded cheese (Colby and Monterey Jack cheese blend)
- Butter, for cooking
Instructions
- Heat the skillet: Place a large skillet on medium heat and cook each tortilla individually until cooked through and air pockets form with slight browning on the surface. Afterwards, remove the tortillas and turn the skillet heat down to low.
- Assemble the quesadilla: Butter one side of a tortilla and place it buttered side down on the skillet. Evenly sprinkle ½ cup of shredded cheese over the tortilla. Add any additional desired ingredients at this point.
- Add the top tortilla and melt cheese: Butter one side of another tortilla and place it on top of the cheese layer with the butter side facing up. Cover the skillet with a lid and cook for 1–2 minutes until the cheese is melted.
- Flip and finish cooking: Carefully flip the quesadilla over using a spatula and cook for an additional minute until both sides are golden brown and crispy.
- Repeat: Repeat the assembly and cooking process for the remaining tortillas and cheese.
- Serve: Remove the cooked quesadillas from the skillet and cut them into triangles using a pizza cutter. Serve warm with your favorite toppings and dips.
Notes
- Use a non-stick skillet or well-seasoned pan for best results and easy flipping.
- Butter both outer sides of the quesadilla to ensure crispy, golden edges.
- Feel free to add extras like cooked chicken, sautéed peppers, or onions for variety.
- Serve with salsa, sour cream, guacamole, or hot sauce for extra flavor.
- Homemade tortillas provide the best texture, but store-bought tortillas work well too.
