Ingredients
Dairy
- 8 oz. full fat sour cream, room temperature
- 8 oz. full fat cream cheese, room temperature
- 8 oz. shredded mozzarella, divided
- 2 oz. shredded Parmesan, divided
Produce & Pantry
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 (6 oz.) can pitted medium black olives, halved or sliced
- 1 (6 oz.) can pitted green olives, halved or sliced
- Kosher salt, to taste
- Fresh cracked pepper, to taste
- Fresh chopped parsley, for garnish
- Sliced French baguette, for serving
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Heat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit to prepare for baking the dip evenly.
- Mix Base Ingredients: In a mixing bowl, combine the sour cream, cream cheese, minced garlic, half of the shredded mozzarella, half of the shredded Parmesan, a few hearty pinches of kosher salt, and a pinch of freshly cracked pepper. Mix thoroughly until the mixture is smooth and well incorporated.
- Add Olives: Gently fold in the halved or sliced black and green olives to preserve their texture and distribute them evenly throughout the creamy mixture.
- Prepare for Baking: Transfer the mixture to a greased 9×9 inch baking dish or a medium-sized cast iron skillet. Spread the dip into an even layer and sprinkle the remaining mozzarella and Parmesan cheeses evenly on top.
- Bake and Broil: Bake the dip in the preheated oven for 25 to 30 minutes until hot and start to bubble. For a beautifully golden and slightly crispy cheese topping, switch the oven to broil and broil the dip for an additional 1 to 2 minutes, watching carefully to avoid burning.
- Garnish and Serve: Remove from the oven and garnish with fresh chopped parsley. Serve warm with sliced French baguette for dipping and enjoy this flavorful, cheesy treat.
Notes
- Ensure cream cheese and sour cream are at room temperature before mixing for a smoother dip.
- Halve or slice olives depending on your preference for texture and olive distribution.
- Broiling time may vary by oven; watch carefully for a golden brown top without burning.
- For a spicier flavor, add a pinch of crushed red pepper flakes to the mixture before baking.
- This dip can be made a few hours ahead and refrigerated; warm before serving.
