Chocolate Delight is a rich, creamy layered dessert featuring a buttery pecan crust, a smooth cream cheese filling, velvety chocolate pudding, and a light whipped topping. Perfect for gatherings, this chilled dessert offers a delightful balance of textures and flavors, making it a crowd-pleaser for any occasion.

  • Total Time: 1 hour 20 minutes
  • Yield: 12 servings

Ingredients

Crust

  • 1 cup Flour
  • ½ cup Butter (melted)
  • ½ cup Chopped pecans

Cream Cheese Layer

  • 8 ounces Cream cheese (room temperature)
  • 1 cup Powdered sugar
  • 8 ounces Cool Whip

Chocolate Pudding Layer

  • 2 boxes Chocolate instant pudding (small 3.9 oz boxes)
  • 4 cups Milk

Topping

  • 8 ounces Cool Whip

Instructions

  1. Prepare Crust: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease a 9×13 inch baking dish. In a bowl, mix together the flour, melted butter, and chopped pecans until well combined. Press the mixture evenly into the bottom of the baking dish to form the crust.
  2. Bake Crust: Bake the crust in the preheated oven for 15 minutes. Once baked, remove the dish from the oven and allow the crust to cool completely before layering the filling.
  3. Make Cream Cheese Layer: In a large bowl, beat together the cream cheese and powdered sugar using an electric mixer until smooth and well combined. Gently fold in 8 ounces of Cool Whip until fully incorporated. Spread this mixture evenly over the cooled crust.
  4. Prepare Chocolate Pudding: Following the package instructions, whisk together the chocolate instant pudding mix with 4 cups of milk. Allow the pudding to set in the refrigerator for 5 minutes until it thickens.
  5. Layer Pudding: Spoon the set chocolate pudding over the cream cheese layer and spread it out into an even layer.
  6. Add Topping: Spread the remaining 8 ounces of Cool Whip gently over the pudding layer to complete the dessert.
  7. Chill Dessert: Refrigerate the entire dish for at least 1 hour before serving to allow layers to set and flavors to meld.

Notes

  • Ensure the crust is completely cooled before adding the cream cheese layer to prevent melting or mixing.
  • For best results, chill the dessert for longer than 1 hour if possible; overnight chilling enhances flavor and texture.
  • You can substitute chopped walnuts or almonds for pecans if desired.
  • Use room temperature cream cheese to avoid lumps and achieve a smooth cream cheese layer.
