Dubai Chocolate Strawberries is a luxurious dessert featuring toasted kataifi pastry combined with creamy pistachio spread and tahini, layered with fresh strawberries and decadent dark chocolate ganache, topped with crunchy chopped pistachios for a delightful texture and flavor combination.

  • Total Time: 35 minutes
  • Yield: 8 servings

Ingredients

Pastry and Spread

  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 4 ounces dry kataifi pastry (chopped)
  • 1 cup pistachio spread or pistachio butter (containing at least 30% pistachios)
  • 2 tablespoons tahini paste

Chocolate Ganache

  • 1 cup chopped quality dark chocolate
  • ¼ cup heavy cream

Fruits and Garnish

  • 1½ pounds strawberries (sliced, halved, or quartered)
  • Chopped pistachios (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Toast the kataifi: Melt the butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the chopped kataifi pastry and cook, stirring continuously, for about 10 minutes or until the kataifi is golden brown. Remove from heat and set aside for 5 minutes to cool.
  2. Add pistachio spread: Stir the pistachio spread and tahini paste into the toasted kataifi ensuring that the pastry is thoroughly coated with the mixture. Set aside for later assembly.
  3. Melt the chocolate ganache: Heat the heavy cream in a saucepan over medium heat, taking care not to bring it to a boil. Place the chopped dark chocolate in a bowl and pour the heated cream over it. Let it rest for 1 minute to soften the chocolate, then stir until smooth and creamy. If the ganache isn’t fully smooth, microwave it for 30 seconds and stir again until well combined.
  4. Assemble the Dubai chocolate strawberries: Divide half of the prepared strawberries evenly among six to eight dessert glasses or bowls. Drizzle some of the chocolate ganache over the strawberries, then layer half of the kataifi mixture on top. Repeat layering with the remaining strawberries, chocolate ganache, and kataifi. Finish by sprinkling chopped pistachios over the top to add extra crunch and flavor.
  5. Serve: Chill the assembled dessert for 10 to 15 minutes in the refrigerator to meld the flavors and set the ganache slightly. Serve chilled for the best taste and texture experience.

Notes

  • Ensure the kataifi pastry is chopped finely for even toasting and better coating.
  • If you can’t find pistachio spread, use natural pistachio butter with no added sugars or oils.
  • Adjust the sweetness by choosing dark chocolate with your preferred cocoa percentage.
  • For best flavor, use fresh, ripe strawberries, and slice them evenly.
  • This dessert can be prepared a few hours ahead and stored chilled, but add chopped pistachios just before serving to maintain crunchiness.
