Ingredients
Main Ingredients
- 12 ounce package Hawaiian sweet rolls
- 8 ounces cream cheese, softened to room temperature
- 1/4 cup chicken broth
- 3 tablespoons ranch dressing mix, divided
- 3 cups cooked and shredded chicken breast
- 2 green onions, sliced thin
- 8 ounces sharp cheddar cheese, shredded, divided
- 2 tablespoons butter, melted
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350° F to prepare for baking the sliders.
- Prepare Chicken Mixture: In a medium pot over medium heat, combine the shredded chicken, chicken broth, and all but 1 teaspoon of the ranch dressing mix. Stir frequently.
- Melt Cream Cheese: Add the cream cheese to the pot and continue heating, stirring often until the cream cheese is fully melted and mixture is smooth.
- Add Cheese and Green Onions: Remove the pot from heat. Stir in the sliced green onions and 1 cup of the shredded cheddar cheese until well combined.
- Slice Rolls: Using a bread knife, carefully slice the entire package of Hawaiian rolls in half horizontally. Do not separate the individual rolls.
- Assemble Bottom Layer: Place the bottom half of the rolls in a casserole dish or on a baking sheet, cut side up. Sprinkle half of the remaining shredded cheese evenly on the bottom half.
- Add Chicken Mixture: Spread the prepared chicken mixture evenly over the cheese on the bottom layer.
- Top Cheese Layer: Sprinkle the remaining shredded cheddar cheese over the chicken mixture.
- Add Top Layer of Rolls: Carefully place the top half of the Hawaiian rolls over the cheese layer to close the sliders.
- Finish with Butter and Seasoning: Brush the melted butter evenly over the tops of the rolls and sprinkle the remaining 1 teaspoon of ranch dressing mix on top.
- Bake: Bake the sliders in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes until the tops are golden brown and the cheese is melted. If the tops brown too quickly, cover loosely with foil after 7-8 minutes.
- Slice and Serve: Remove from oven, slice the sliders individually into 12 portions, and serve immediately while warm and gooey.
Notes
- Do not separate the Hawaiian rolls before slicing horizontally, as it keeps the sliders intact for easier assembly.
- If you want a spicier kick, add a pinch of cayenne pepper or hot sauce to the chicken mixture.
- Covering with foil during baking prevents the tops from burning while allowing the cheese to melt completely.
- Serve these sliders as appetizers, party snacks, or a quick meal with a side salad or veggies.
- The recipe can be made ahead by preparing the chicken mixture and assembling the sliders, then baking just before serving.
