Ingredients
Pancakes
- 1 cup (120g) all-purpose flour
- 2 Tablespoons sugar
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 pinch of salt
- ¾ cup (180 ml) milk
- 2 Tablespoons melted butter or vegetable oil
- 1 large egg
Toppings (optional)
- Maple syrup
- Fresh berries
- Banana slices
Instructions
- Preheat oven: Preheat your oven to 200°F (90°C) and prepare a heatproof platter to place cooked pancakes so they stay warm.
- Mix dry ingredients: In a small bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Set this mixture aside.
- Mix wet ingredients: In a medium bowl, whisk together the milk, melted butter (or vegetable oil), and egg until smooth.
- Combine mixtures: Pour the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients and gently stir until just combined. Avoid overmixing to keep pancakes fluffy.
- Heat skillet: Warm a large skillet or griddle over medium heat and generously coat it with vegetable oil to prevent sticking.
- Cook pancakes: For each pancake, spoon 2 to 3 tablespoons of batter onto the skillet. Cook until bubbles form on the surface, approximately 1 minute. Flip carefully and cook for another 1 to 2 minutes until golden brown on the underside.
- Keep warm: Transfer cooked pancakes to the prepared heatproof platter, cover with foil, and keep warm in the oven until all pancakes are ready to serve.
- Serve: Serve the pancakes warm topped with maple syrup, fresh berries, banana slices, or your favorite toppings.
Notes
- Do not overmix the batter; lumps are okay for fluffy pancakes.
- Use medium heat to prevent burning and ensure pancakes cook through.
- You can substitute milk with any plant-based milk for a dairy-free option.
- The heatproof platter and oven step helps keep pancakes warm and fluffy before serving.
- Add vanilla extract or cinnamon to the batter for extra flavor.
