Ingredients
Simple Syrup and Peach Base
- 3/4 cup honey
- 1 cup water (for honey syrup)
- 3 heaping cups chopped peaches (from 4-5 medium peaches)
Additional Ingredients
- 4 cups water (for mixing)
- 1 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice (from 5-6 lemons)
- Sliced peaches and/or lemon wheels (for garnish)
Instructions
- Make a honey simple syrup: In a saucepan over medium-high heat, combine the honey and 1 cup of water. Stir continuously to dissolve the honey completely, then lower the heat to medium to prepare for simmering.
- Stew the peaches: Add the chopped peaches to the saucepan and bring the mixture to a simmer. Let it simmer gently for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally and using the back of a wooden spoon to mash the peaches. This process helps release their juices and infuses the syrup with rich peach flavor.
- Cool the peach syrup: After 10 minutes of simmering, remove the pan from heat and allow the mixture to cool to room temperature. Once cooled, strain the mixture through a fine mesh strainer into a large mixing glass or bowl, separating the liquid syrup from the peach solids.
- Mix and serve: In a large pitcher, combine the cooled peach honey syrup, freshly squeezed lemon juice, and the remaining 4 cups of water. Stir gently to blend all the flavors evenly. Serve the lemonade over glasses filled with ice and garnish with sliced peaches and lemon wheels for a decorative and flavorful presentation.
Notes
- Use ripe, juicy peaches for the best flavor and natural sweetness.
- Adjust honey quantity based on your preferred sweetness level.
- For an extra refreshing twist, chill the lemonade for at least 1 hour before serving.
- Straining is key to remove peach bits and create a smooth lemonade texture.
- This lemonade is best enjoyed fresh but can be refrigerated for up to 2 days.
