A refreshing and easy-to-make White Sangria featuring a vibrant mix of fresh fruits, white wine, bourbon, and ginger beer. Perfect for summer gatherings or casual entertaining, this sangria blends bright cherries, strawberries, and blueberries with citrusy orange liqueur and a hint of essential oils for a crisp, flavorful cocktail.

  • Total Time: 35 minutes
  • Yield: 8 servings

Ingredients

Fruits

  • 2 cups cherries, pitted and halved
  • 2 cups strawberries, sliced into quarters
  • 1.5 cups blueberries, two-thirds halved, remaining whole

Liquids and Flavorings

  • 1 bottle white wine, chilled (750 ml, viognier, albarino, or sauvignon blanc)
  • 1/2 cup orange liqueur (Cointreau or similar)
  • 1/2 cup bourbon
  • 24 oz ginger beer, chilled
  • 2-3 drops lemon or tangerine essential oil (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Fruit: Pit the cherries and cut them in half. Cut about two thirds of the blueberries in half as well. Slice the strawberries into quarter-inch pieces to ensure even flavor distribution.
  2. Combine and Chill: Place all the prepared fruits into a large pitcher and pour in the chilled white wine. Stir gently to mix, then cover and refrigerate for 30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld together.
  3. Add Spirits and Mixer: After chilling, add 1/2 cup of orange liqueur, 1/2 cup of bourbon, the 24 oz of chilled ginger beer, and the remaining whole blueberries to the mixture. Optionally, add 2-3 drops of lemon or tangerine essential oil to enhance the citrus aroma and taste.
  4. Stir and Serve: Stir the sangria gently to combine all ingredients. Serve over ice with a generous scoop of fruit in each glass for a visually appealing and refreshing drink.

Notes

  • Chilling the sangria for at least 30 minutes is crucial to blend the fruit and alcohol flavors well.
  • Use fresh, ripe fruits for the best flavor and visual appeal.
  • Adjust the quantity of bourbon and orange liqueur to suit your preferred strength and sweetness level.
  • If you prefer a non-alcoholic version, substitute the white wine and spirits with additional ginger beer or a sparkling white grape juice.
  • Essential oils are optional but add a lovely citrus aroma; ensure food-grade oils and use sparingly.
  • This sangria is best enjoyed within 24 hours of preparation for optimal freshness.
