These decadent Fudge Brownies feature a rich, moist texture with a deep chocolate flavor enhanced by dark cocoa powder. Topped with a creamy chocolate frosting made from butter, honey, and powdered sugar, these brownies deliver the perfect balance of sweetness and fudginess in every bite. Ideal for gatherings or indulgent treats, they bake to perfection in under 40 minutes.

  • Total Time: 45 minutes
  • Yield: 32 servings

Ingredients

Brownie Batter

  • 1 cup Challenge Unsalted Butter (melted)
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 4 eggs
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 3/4 cup dark cocoa powder
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder

Chocolate Frosting

  • 4 tbsp Challenge Unsalted Butter (softened)
  • 1/4 cup dark cocoa powder
  • 2 tbsp honey
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 3 tbsp milk (as needed)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven: Set your oven to 350˚F (175˚C) to prepare for baking the brownies.
  2. Prepare Brownie Batter: In a large mixing bowl, cream together the melted butter and granulated sugar until smooth. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition, then stir in the vanilla extract.
  3. Combine Dry Ingredients: Sift together the cocoa powder, flour, salt, and baking powder. Gradually fold the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Avoid over mixing to keep the batter light and fudgy.
  4. Bake the Brownies: Line a 9×13 inch baking pan with parchment paper. Pour the brownie batter evenly into the pan and spread it out. Bake in the preheated oven for 30 to 40 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  5. Make the Frosting: While the brownies are baking, prepare the frosting by combining the softened butter, cocoa powder, honey, and vanilla extract in a bowl. Gradually mix in the powdered sugar and milk alternately until the frosting reaches a smooth and spreadable consistency.
  6. Frost the Brownies: Once the brownies come out of the oven and are still warm, spread the frosting evenly over the top. Allow the brownies to cool completely before slicing.
  7. Optional Chill: For extra fudgy brownies, cover the pan and refrigerate overnight, then slice and serve.

Notes

  • Do not overmix the batter to maintain fudgy texture.
  • Use dark cocoa powder for a richer chocolate flavor.
  • Frost brownies while warm for easier spreading.
  • Refrigerating overnight intensifies the fudginess.
  • Use parchment paper to prevent sticking and for easy removal.
