Ingredients
Seafood
- 6 lobster tails (7-8 ounces each)
Seasonings and Garnish
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 4 tablespoons butter
- 1/2 teaspoon minced garlic
- 1 tablespoon minced parsley (plus more for garnish)
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Lemon wedges
Instructions
- Preheat Grill: Heat an outdoor grill or indoor grill pan to medium high heat to ensure even cooking of the lobster tails.
- Prepare Lobster Tails: Using kitchen shears, cut down the top of each lobster tail shell. Then carefully slice through the exposed lobster flesh without cutting through the bottom shell.
- Butterfly Lobster: Gently flatten each lobster tail by pushing down on the shell, and insert a wooden or metal skewer through the lobster meat to keep it flat during grilling.
- Season Lobster: Brush each lobster tail generously with olive oil and season with salt and pepper to enhance the natural seafood flavor.
- Make Garlic Butter: In a small bowl, combine butter, minced garlic, parsley, and a pinch of salt. Microwave in 20-second intervals, stirring until the butter is fully melted and ingredients are well combined.
- Grill Lobster Tails – First Side: Place the lobster tails flesh side down on the preheated grill and cook for 5 minutes to develop a nice char and flavor.
- Grill Lobster Tails – Second Side: Flip the lobster tails over and drizzle them with the prepared garlic butter. Continue grilling for another 4-5 minutes until the lobster meat turns opaque and is fully cooked.
- Garnish and Serve: Remove the lobster tails from the grill, sprinkle with extra minced parsley for freshness, and serve immediately with lemon wedges on the side.
Notes
- Ensure not to overcook lobster to keep the meat tender and juicy; opaque meat is a good indicator it’s done.
- If using shell-on lobster tails, inserting skewers helps keep the tail flat and cooks evenly.
- Butter can be melted on the stove instead of microwave if preferred.
- Fresh parsley adds a bright herbal note but can be substituted with cilantro or chives.
- Serve immediately after grilling for best texture and flavor.
