This vibrant Grilled Pineapple Salsa combines the smoky sweetness of charred pineapple with the zesty brightness of lime, the warmth of fresh ginger, and the mild heat of jalapenos. Perfect as a refreshing topping for grilled meats, tacos, or as a standalone dip, this salsa is easy to prepare and packed with bold flavors.

  • Total Time: 25 minutes
  • Yield: 16 servings

Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 1 pineapple, cored and cut into rings (can substitute 2 20-ounce cans of sliced pineapple, drained)
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro
  • 2 inch piece of fresh ginger, grated
  • 2 limes, zest and juice
  • 3 jalapenos, seeded and diced
  • 1 medium red onion, diced
  • Pink salt, to taste
  • Freshly cracked black pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat Grill: Preheat a grill pan or an outdoor grill over high heat to ensure it is hot and ready for searing the pineapple.
  2. Grill Pineapple: Lightly oil the grill surface to prevent sticking. Grill the pineapple slices for 3 to 5 minutes per side until distinct dark grill marks appear, which enhance the smoky flavor.
  3. Prepare Salsa Mixture: Roughly chop the grilled pineapple and place it in a mixing bowl. Add the chopped fresh cilantro, grated ginger, lime zest and juice, diced jalapenos, and diced red onion to the bowl.
  4. Season Salsa: Season the mixture with pink salt and freshly cracked black pepper to taste. Stir thoroughly to combine all flavors evenly.

Notes

  • Using fresh pineapple provides the best texture and flavor, but canned pineapple can be used as a convenient alternative.
  • Adjust jalapeno quantity according to your preferred spice level or substitute with milder peppers.
  • Let the salsa sit for 10-15 minutes before serving to allow the flavors to meld together more effectively.
  • This salsa pairs wonderfully with grilled chicken, fish, pork, or as a topping for tacos and nachos.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
