Ingredients
Marinade
- ⅓ cup balsamic vinegar
- ¼ cup soy sauce
- 3 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
- 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
- 2 tablespoons fresh rosemary (finely chopped, or 2 teaspoons dried rosemary)
- 3 cloves garlic (minced)
- 2 teaspoons Dijon mustard
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- ¼ teaspoon onion powder
For the Kabobs
- 1 pound top sirloin (cut into 1 inch pieces)
- 8 ounces mushrooms (cleaned and halved)
- 2 bell peppers (different colors, cleaned and cut into 1 inch pieces)
- 1 large red onion (cleaned and cut into 1 inch pieces)
- 1 to 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Chopped fresh parsley (optional garnish)
Instructions
- Prepare the Marinade: In a small bowl or glass measuring cup, whisk together balsamic vinegar, soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce, olive oil, rosemary, garlic, Dijon mustard, black pepper, and onion powder to create the marinade.
- Marinate the Steak: Cut the top sirloin into 1-inch pieces and place them into a large zip-top bag. Pour the marinade over the steak pieces, seal the bag, and refrigerate for at least 1 hour up to 8 hours to allow the flavors to penetrate the meat.
- Preheat the Grill: Remove the steak from the marinade, discarding any excess liquid. Heat your grill to medium-high heat to get it ready for cooking.
- Assemble the Kabobs: Season the mushrooms, bell peppers, and red onions with salt, pepper, and a little olive oil. Thread the marinated steak pieces and vegetables alternately onto skewers, making sure to distribute vegetables and meat evenly.
- Grill the Kabobs: Place the assembled kabobs on the preheated grill. Cook them for 3 to 5 minutes per side, turning as needed to ensure all sides are evenly cooked and the steak reaches desired doneness.
- Serve: Once cooked, remove the kabobs from the grill. Garnish with chopped fresh parsley if desired, and serve immediately while hot.
Notes
- Soaking wooden skewers in water for 30 minutes before grilling helps prevent them from burning.
- For extra tenderness, marinate the steak overnight but no longer than 8 hours to avoid overpowering the meat.
- You can substitute other vegetables such as zucchini or cherry tomatoes based on preference.
- Adjust grilling time depending on your preferred steak doneness (3 minutes per side for medium-rare).
- Use fresh herbs whenever possible for best flavor.
