A delicious and hearty Homemade Burger Bowl featuring crispy sweet potato fries, seasoned ground beef, and a tangy homemade sauce, perfect for a quick and satisfying meal in just 25 minutes.

  • Total Time: 25 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings

Ingredients

Fries

  • 1 (20-ounce) bag sweet potato fries (or regular fries)

Beef Mixture

  • 1 large yellow onion (divided)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 pound ground beef chuck (80/20)
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon beef bouillon powder
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

Sauce

  • 1/2 cup mayo
  • 2 tablespoons ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon sweet pickle relish
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 tablespoon grated yellow onion (from the divided onion)
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt, or to taste

Toppings

  • Favorite toppings as desired (e.g., shredded lettuce, sliced tomatoes, cheese, pickles, sesame seeds for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Prep Onion: Grate one large yellow onion using the large holes of a grater to yield about 1 tablespoon of grated onion which will be used in the sauce. Finely dice the remaining onion to yield about 1 cup for the beef mixture.
  2. Prep Fries: Cook the sweet potato fries according to package instructions either in the oven or air fryer until crispy and golden.
  3. Make Sauce: In a small bowl, combine the mayo, ketchup, sweet pickle relish, paprika, grated onion, and 1/4 teaspoon salt (or to taste). Stir until smooth and refrigerate until ready to use.
  4. Cook Beef: Heat a large cast-iron pan over medium-high heat. Add olive oil and the diced onion, sautéing for 4–5 minutes until golden and fragrant. Push the onion to the edges of the pan and add the ground beef to the center. Increase heat to high and sear the beef for about 1 minute per side before breaking it apart and browning thoroughly. Season with garlic powder, paprika, onion powder, beef bouillon powder, 1/2 teaspoon salt, and 1/4 teaspoon pepper. Cook until beef is deeply browned and most fat has rendered. Drain excess grease. Remove from heat and stir in Worcestershire sauce. Adjust seasoning if necessary.
  5. Assemble: Distribute the cooked fries evenly into four bowls, top with the seasoned ground beef, and add desired toppings. Drizzle with the prepared sauce, sprinkle sesame seeds if desired, and serve immediately for a flavorful, comforting meal.

Notes

  • You can use regular fries instead of sweet potato fries depending on your preference.
  • Feel free to customize the toppings with shredded lettuce, sliced tomatoes, cheese, or pickles to suit your taste.
  • For a leaner option, use lean ground beef or ground turkey.
  • The sauce can be made ahead and stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
  • To keep fries crispy, serve the bowls immediately after assembly.
