Ingredients
Shrimp and Seasoning
- 1 pound raw shrimp (shells removed and veins deveined)
- 1 tablespoon Cajun seasoning (Tony Chachere’s Original Creole Seasoning recommended)
Vegetables and Aromatics
- 1/4 cup red pepper, chopped
- 1 teaspoon minced garlic
Sauce Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1 cup heavy whipping cream
- 1/2 cup grated parmesan cheese
- 1/2 teaspoon basil
- 1/8 teaspoon black pepper
Pasta
- 8 ounces linguine, cooked al dente according to package instructions
Instructions
- Season the Shrimp: Place thawed shrimp in a bowl and coat evenly with Cajun seasoning to infuse them with bold Creole flavors.
- Sauté the Shrimp: In a large skillet over medium heat, melt the butter. Add the seasoned shrimp and sauté until they begin to turn pink, indicating they are nearly cooked through.
- Add Vegetables and Aromatics: Add the chopped red pepper and minced garlic to the skillet. Continue to sauté for an additional one to two minutes, allowing the flavors to meld and the garlic to become fragrant.
- Simmer the Cream Sauce: Lower the heat to medium-low. Stir in the heavy whipping cream, grated parmesan cheese, basil, and black pepper. Let the sauce simmer gently for about 10 minutes to thicken and deepen in flavor.
- Cook the Pasta: While the sauce simmers, prepare the linguine according to package directions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
- Combine Pasta and Sauce: Toss the cooked linguine into the skillet with the creamy shrimp sauce. Stir thoroughly to coat the pasta evenly with the sauce, ensuring every bite is rich and flavorful.
Notes
- For extra heat, add a pinch of cayenne pepper or additional Cajun seasoning.
- Use fresh shrimp if possible for the best taste and texture.
- To make the dish lighter, substitute heavy cream with half-and-half or a light cream, but sauce richness will be slightly reduced.
- If preferred, substitute parmesan with Pecorino Romano for a sharper flavor.
- Reserve some pasta water to loosen sauce if it becomes too thick during simmering.
