Ingredients
Chicken Filling
- 2 cups cooked chicken – shredded or chopped, breast or thighs
- 2 tablespoons olive oil – for reheating chicken
- 2 tablespoons taco seasoning – store-bought or homemade
Wraps
- 4 large flour tortillas – warmed for folding
- 4 small corn tortillas – for crunch layer
Toppings & Sauces
- 1 cup shredded lettuce – cold and crunchy
- 1 cup shredded cheese – Mexican blend or cheddar
- ½ cup sour cream – or Greek yogurt
- ½ cup salsa – or pico de gallo
- 2 tablespoons hot sauce – optional
- 2 tablespoons ranch or chipotle mayo – optional
- Optional add-ins: tomatoes, beans, corn, jalapeños, guacamole
Instructions
- Prepare Chicken: Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the cooked chicken and taco seasoning, stirring well to coat. Warm through for 2-3 minutes, then shred or chop the chicken finely to distribute the seasoning evenly. Keep warm.
- Warm Tortillas and Prep Toppings: Warm the large flour tortillas in the microwave for about 30 seconds to make them pliable. Arrange the shredded lettuce, cheese, sour cream, salsa, and any optional toppings and sauces in small bowls for easy assembly.
- Assemble Crunch Wrap: Lay one warmed flour tortilla flat on a clean surface. Place a small corn tortilla in the center of the flour tortilla to act as the crunchy layer. Add a generous layer of the seasoned chicken on top of the corn tortilla. Spread sour cream and salsa over the chicken, then sprinkle shredded cheese and lettuce. Add any additional optional toppings you like. Ensure the filling is kept in the center to make folding easier.
- Fold Wrap: Carefully fold the edges of the large flour tortilla inward in a circular motion over the filling, pleating the tortilla as you go, until it is fully sealed and encloses all fillings.
- Cook Crunch Wrap: Heat the skillet over medium heat. Place the folded wrap seam-side down on the skillet to seal it. Cook for 2-3 minutes or until the bottom is golden brown and crispy. Flip the wrap with a spatula and cook the other side until it’s equally golden and crispy. Remove from skillet.
- Serve: Cut the crunch wrap in half diagonally and serve immediately while hot and crispy.
Notes
- Use warm tortillas for easier folding and to prevent tearing.
- Adjust taco seasoning quantity to your taste preference or use homemade for better control over sodium.
- You can swap sour cream for Greek yogurt for a healthier alternative.
- Add more veggies like tomatoes or jalapeños for extra flavor and texture.
- Cook on medium heat to avoid burning the tortilla before the cheese melts.
- For a dairy-free option, omit cheese and sour cream/replacements.
