Ingredients
Gravy Ingredients
- Turkey drippings
- Chicken or vegetable stock, enough to equal 1 ½ cups of liquid when combined with drippings
- ¼ cup all-purpose flour
- ½ cup water
Instructions
- Measure the drippings: Pour the turkey drippings into a measuring cup and add enough chicken or vegetable stock to make a total of 1 ½ cups of liquid combined.
- Prepare the base: Pour the combined liquid into a medium saucepan to begin heating.
- Mix the slurry: In a small bowl, whisk together the ¼ cup of all-purpose flour and ½ cup of water until smooth to make a slurry.
- Cook the gravy: Slowly add the flour and water mixture to the saucepan with the heated liquid, and cook over medium heat, whisking continuously, for about 2 minutes or until the gravy thickens and is smooth.
Notes
- Use a whisk to prevent lumps while adding the flour slurry.
- Adjust thickness by adding more stock for a thinner gravy or more flour slurry for a thicker consistency.
- Season with salt and pepper as needed to enhance flavor.
- This gravy works well with turkey, chicken, or other roasted meats.
