Ingredients
Meat Mixture
- 1 lb. ground beef
- 1 small onion, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon burger seasoning
- ½ teaspoon fresh rosemary, minced
- Salt and pepper to taste (about ½ teaspoon kosher salt and ¼ teaspoon black pepper)
Batter
- 1 cup whole milk
- 2 large eggs
- ¾ cup bisquick baking mix
Toppings
- 1 cup cheddar cheese, shredded
- Shredded lettuce
- Dill pickles
- Ketchup
- Diced onions
Instructions
- Preheat and Prepare Pie Dish: Preheat your oven to 400°F (204°C). Grease a 9-inch pie dish with nonstick baking spray to prevent sticking.
- Cook Ground Beef: Heat a large skillet over medium heat and add the ground beef. Break it into small pieces while stirring. Cook for 2-3 minutes until the beef just begins to brown.
- Season Meat: Season the beef with salt and pepper to taste, approximately ½ teaspoon kosher salt and ¼ teaspoon black pepper.
- Sauté Onions and Add Flavor: Add the diced onion to the skillet and cook for an additional 5-7 minutes until the beef is fully browned and the onion is soft. Then add the minced garlic, burger seasoning, and fresh rosemary. Cook for another minute to release the flavors.
- Drain and Transfer Meat Mixture: Remove the skillet from heat and drain any excess grease. Transfer the beef and onion mixture evenly into the bottom of the greased pie dish.
- Make and Pour Batter: In a small bowl, whisk together the whole milk, eggs, and Bisquick baking mix until smooth and well combined. Pour this batter evenly over the beef mixture in the pie dish.
- Add Cheese and Bake: Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese evenly on top of the batter. Place the pie dish in the preheated oven and bake for 25-28 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the center is set.
- Serve with Toppings: Once baked, let the pie cool slightly. Serve topped with shredded lettuce, dill pickles, ketchup, and diced onions for a classic cheeseburger experience.
