Ingredients
For the Burger Patties
- 1 lb ground chicken (ground thighs recommended for best flavor)
- ¼ cup almond flour (or breadcrumbs)
- ⅓ cup feta cheese, crumbled
- 1 ½ cups fresh spinach, chopped
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 2 tablespoons oil (for cooking, such as olive oil or vegetable oil)
To Serve
- Brioche buns
- Your favorite burger toppings (lettuce, tomato, onion, pickles, sauces, etc.)
Instructions
- Prepare the Mixture: In a medium bowl, mix together the ground chicken, almond flour (or breadcrumbs), crumbled feta cheese, chopped spinach, oregano, salt, and pepper until just combined. Be careful not to overmix to keep the patties tender.
- Form Patties: Divide the mixture into 4 equal portions and shape each into a patty. The patties will be moist, sticky, and delicate, so handle with care to prevent them from breaking.
- Cook in a Pan: Heat 2 tablespoons of oil in a large non-stick or cast iron skillet over medium heat. Add the burger patties and cook for about 6 minutes on each side, until the exterior is golden brown and the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C). Adjust the heat if necessary to avoid burning.
- Alternatively, Cook on the Grill: Lightly oil a grill mat and place the patties over medium heat on the BBQ. Cook for about 5 minutes per side with the lid closed until they reach an internal temperature of 165°F and have nice grill marks.
- Serve: Place the cooked patties on brioche buns and add your favorite toppings and condiments to enjoy a juicy, flavorful chicken burger.
Notes
- Use ground chicken thighs if possible for more flavor and juiciness compared to breast meat.
- Almond flour can be replaced with breadcrumbs for a more traditional texture.
- Be gentle when forming the patties as the mixture is moist and can fall apart easily.
- Adjust cooking time slightly based on the thickness of the patties and your equipment.
- Check internal temperature with a meat thermometer to ensure safety and perfect cooking.
- For a healthier option, use a non-stick pan with minimal oil, or opt for grilling which uses less fat.
