Ingredients
Chicken and Seasoning
- 1 lb chicken breast, boneless and skinless
- Salt, to taste
- Black pepper, to taste
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp paprika
Filling
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1 packet ranch seasoning mix (about 1 oz)
- 1/2 cup cream cheese, softened
- 1/4 cup chopped green onions
Additional
- 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
- 1 tbsp olive oil (for brushing)
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) to prepare for baking the chicken bombs.
- Prepare the Chicken: Slice the chicken breasts horizontally to create thin fillets. Season both sides generously with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and paprika to enhance flavor.
- Make the Filling: In a medium bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, ranch seasoning mix, shredded mozzarella cheese, and chopped green onions. Mix until the filling is smooth and well combined.
- Stuff the Chicken: Place a spoonful of the cheesy ranch filling in the center of each chicken fillet. Carefully fold the chicken around the filling, shaping each into a sealed “bomb.”
- Wrap in Puff Pastry: Roll out the thawed puff pastry sheet and cut it into squares large enough to fully encase each chicken bomb. Wrap each stuffed chicken piece with a puff pastry square, sealing the edges tightly to prevent leaks.
- Bake: Arrange the wrapped chicken bombs on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Brush the tops lightly with olive oil to promote browning. Bake in the preheated oven for 25–30 minutes, or until the puff pastry is golden brown and the chicken’s internal temperature reaches 165°F (75°C).
- Serve: Remove from the oven and allow to cool slightly before serving. Enjoy your cheesy, savory chicken bombs warm for maximum flavor.
Notes
- Ensure the chicken is fully cooked by checking that the internal temperature reaches 165°F (75°C) with a meat thermometer.
- For easier handling, keep the puff pastry chilled until ready to use.
- You can substitute fresh herbs like parsley or chives for green onions to vary the flavor.
- Serve with a side of your favorite dipping sauce or a fresh salad for a complete meal.
- Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days and reheated in the oven to retain crispiness.
