Ingredients
Green Beans
- 1 lb green beans, ends trimmed
Seasoning and Flavor
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 small shallot, minced
- Juice of 1 lemon
- Kosher salt, to taste
- Black pepper, to taste
- 2 tablespoons freshly grated Parmesan cheese (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit to prepare for roasting the green beans.
- Prepare Beans: Place the trimmed green beans on a large baking sheet. Drizzle them with olive oil, then add the minced garlic, minced shallot, and lemon juice. Use tongs or clean hands to toss everything until the beans are evenly coated. Arrange the beans in a single layer and season with kosher salt and black pepper to your taste.
- Roast: Roast the green beans in the preheated oven for 10 to 15 minutes. Halfway through cooking, shake the baking sheet to ensure even roasting. The green beans should be tender yet retain some crispness when done.
- Finish and Serve: Remove the beans from the oven and, if desired, sprinkle with freshly grated Parmesan cheese. Serve the roasted green beans warm for best flavor.
Notes
- For extra flavor, you can add a pinch of red pepper flakes before roasting.
- If you prefer softer beans, roast them a few minutes longer until desired tenderness.
- Use fresh lemon juice for the best bright flavor.
- Parmesan cheese is optional but adds a nice savory touch.
- Make sure to spread beans evenly on the baking sheet to avoid steaming instead of roasting.
