For the Fajitas
- 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil or avocado oil
- 1 ½ lb lean sirloin steak, sliced into thin strips
- 1 red bell pepper, thinly sliced
- 1 green bell pepper, thinly sliced
- 1 orange bell pepper, thinly sliced
- 1 large red onion, thinly sliced
- 2 tablespoons taco seasoning
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- ½ tablespoon low sodium soy sauce
- Juice of one medium lime
For Serving
- Tortillas
- Sour cream
- Shredded lettuce
- Shredded cheese
- Salsa
- Fresh cilantro for garnish
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (204°C). Drizzle the olive oil evenly across a large baking sheet and set it aside to prepare the ingredients.
- Prepare Ingredients: Slice the sirloin steak into thin strips. Similarly, thinly slice the red, green, and orange bell peppers along with the large red onion. Arrange all the meat and vegetables directly on the oiled baking sheet.
- Season and Toss: Sprinkle the taco seasoning, smoked paprika, low sodium soy sauce, and fresh lime juice evenly over the steak and vegetables. Use tongs or your hands to toss everything well, ensuring all pieces are coated with the flavorful seasonings.
- Spread and Bake: Spread the mixture evenly in a single layer on the baking sheet. Place in the preheated oven and bake for 10-13 minutes or until the steak reaches your desired level of doneness and the vegetables are tender with slight browning on the edges.
- Serve: Remove from oven and serve immediately with warmed tortillas and your favorite fajita toppings such as sour cream, shredded lettuce, shredded cheese, and salsa. Garnish with fresh cilantro for a burst of freshness and enjoy!
Notes
- For a spicier kick, add a pinch of cayenne pepper to the seasoning mix.
- If desired, marinate the steak with the seasonings and lime juice for 30 minutes before cooking to enhance flavor.
- Use gluten-free tortillas if you require a gluten-free meal.
- You can substitute sirloin steak with chicken or shrimp as an alternative protein.
- Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days and reheated in the oven or skillet.
