Ingredients
Ingredients
- 6 6-inch tortillas
- 1 pound ground beef
- ½ cup onion, chopped
- 1-2 tablespoons taco seasoning, or more to taste
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- ¼ cup salsa
- ½ cup shredded cheddar cheese
- Olive oil spray or brush, for tortillas
Instructions
- Preheat and Prepare: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with foil or parchment paper for easy cleanup.
- Cook Ground Beef: In a medium-sized skillet over medium heat, brown 1 pound of ground beef along with ½ cup of chopped onion. Season with salt and pepper to taste while cooking.
- Season Beef: Once the beef is cooked through, drain excess fat. Stir in 1 to 2 tablespoons of taco seasoning and ¼ cup of salsa. Adjust seasoning to your preference.
- Oil Tortillas: Lightly spray or brush olive oil onto both sides of each tortilla. Place the oiled tortillas on the prepared baking sheet.
- Fill Tortillas: Spoon approximately ¼ cup of the seasoned taco meat onto each tortilla, then sprinkle with about 1 tablespoon of shredded cheddar cheese. Fold the tortillas in half to enclose the filling.
- Bake Tacos: Bake the assembled tacos in the preheated oven for 10 minutes. Flip each taco carefully with a spatula, optionally adding more cheese on top, then bake for an additional 5 to 10 minutes until the tortillas are crispy and the cheese is melted.
Notes
- You can swap the ground beef with ground turkey or chicken for a leaner option.
- For a crispier texture, make sure to flip the tacos halfway through baking.
- Add your favorite taco toppings like sour cream, avocado, or chopped cilantro after baking.
- Use gluten-free tortillas to make the recipe gluten-free.
