Ingredients
Main Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 2 large cloves of garlic, minced
- 2 teaspoons minced chipotle chiles in adobo sauce
- ½ cup orange juice
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- ¾ cup chopped cilantro, divided
- 4 boneless skinless chicken breasts
- 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 12 6-inch flour tortillas
Instructions
- Prepare the Sauce: Melt butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Add minced garlic and chipotle chiles, cooking briefly until fragrant but not browned. Stir in orange juice, Worcestershire sauce, and ½ cup of chopped cilantro.
- Cook the Chicken: Bring the sauce to a boil, then add the chicken breasts. Cover the skillet and reduce heat to a simmer. Cook until the chicken is cooked through, approximately 15-20 minutes, flipping the chicken at least once for even cooking. Remove the chicken to a plate and cover with foil to keep warm.
- Reduce the Sauce: Continue simmering the sauce in the skillet until it reduces to about ¼ cup, intensifying its flavor.
- Add Dijon Mustard: Turn off the heat, then stir the Dijon mustard into the reduced sauce until fully combined.
- Shred the Chicken: Using two forks, shred the cooked chicken into bite-sized pieces. Return the shredded chicken to the skillet with the sauce. Add the remaining cilantro along with salt and pepper to taste. Toss everything to coat the chicken evenly with the flavorful sauce.
- Assemble and Serve: Warm the flour tortillas according to package instructions or your preferred method. Serve the shredded chicken mixture on the tortillas with any optional toppings such as diced onions, sliced avocado, shredded cheese, sour cream, or lime wedges to enhance flavor and texture.
Notes
- Optional fillings and toppings: diced onions, sliced avocado, shredded cheese, sour cream, lime wedges, salsa, or fresh jalapeños.
- Flour tortillas can be substituted with corn tortillas for a gluten-free option.
- For extra heat, add more chipotle chiles or a dash of hot sauce.
- Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
