These Smoked Salmon Rangoons offer a delightful fusion of creamy, tangy, and smoky flavors wrapped in crispy wonton shells. Perfect as a sophisticated appetizer, they combine smooth cream cheese with smoky salmon, fresh herbs, and a kick of spice, complemented by a sweet and spicy hot honey mustard dipping sauce. Cooked in the air fryer, these rangoons come out golden and crispy without the mess of deep frying.

  • Total Time: 45 minutes
  • Yield: 40 rangoons (serves 10)

Ingredients

Smoked Salmon Rangoons

  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened at room temperature
  • ½ cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tablespoons capers, drained
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon lemon zest
  • ½ teaspoon Tabasco sauce
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 4 ounces chopped smoked salmon
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh dill
  • 1 scallion, chopped
  • 40 wonton wrappers

Hot Honey Mustard Sauce

  • ¼ cup Dijon mustard
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • ½ teaspoon cayenne pepper

Instructions

  1. Preheat Air Fryer: Set your air fryer to 375°F (190°C) and allow it to preheat while you prepare the filling.
  2. Prepare Filling: In a food processor, combine the cream cheese, mayonnaise, capers, lemon juice, lemon zest, Tabasco, and salt. Pulse until the mixture is smooth and well blended. Transfer the mixture to a mixing bowl.
  3. Add Salmon and Herbs: Stir in the chopped smoked salmon, dill, and chopped scallion into the cream cheese mixture until fully incorporated.
  4. Fill Wontons: Place 2 teaspoons of the filling onto the center of each wonton wrapper. Using your finger, moisten the edges with water, then fold the wrapper over the filling. Pinch the center to seal, then fold and press the remaining four points together to form a four-pointed star shape, ensuring all edges are tightly sealed. Repeat for all wrappers and filling.
  5. Cook in Air Fryer: Arrange the rangoons in a single layer inside the air fryer basket. Lightly spray them with cooking spray to promote crisping. Air fry for about 10 minutes or until the rangoons are puffed and golden brown. Cook in batches if necessary.
  6. Make Hot Honey Mustard Sauce: While the rangoons cook, whisk together the Dijon mustard, honey, and cayenne pepper in a small bowl until smooth and well blended.
  7. Serve: Serve the hot smoked salmon rangoons immediately with the spicy honey mustard sauce on the side for dipping.

Notes

  • Make sure the cream cheese is at room temperature for easier mixing.
  • Use fresh dill and scallion for the best flavor.
  • If you don’t have an air fryer, these can be baked in a preheated oven at 375°F for 12-15 minutes until golden and crispy.
  • Be careful not to overfill the wontons to prevent them from bursting during cooking.
  • Store leftover rangoons in an airtight container and reheat in the air fryer for crispy texture.
