Ingredients
Buttercream Frosting
- 8 tablespoons butter, at room temperature (1 stick)
- 4 cups powdered sugar
- 1/2 cup finely chopped fresh strawberries with their juices (plus more if needed)
- Additional powdered sugar (only if needed to adjust consistency)
Instructions
- Beat the Butter: Place the room temperature butter in a large mixing bowl. Using an electric mixer, beat the butter until it becomes creamy and smooth, which usually takes about 1-2 minutes.
- Add Powdered Sugar and Strawberries: Stop the mixer and add the powdered sugar along with the finely chopped fresh strawberries including their juices. Start the mixer on low speed to combine the ingredients gently, then increase the speed until the mixture is creamy and fully blended.
- Adjust Consistency: Assess the texture of the frosting. If it is too thick to spread easily, add a little more strawberry juice or finely chopped strawberries and mix again. If the frosting feels too runny or thin, add small amounts of powdered sugar gradually until you achieve the desired thickness.
- Frost Your Baked Goods: Use this freshly made strawberry buttercream frosting to decorate cakes, cupcakes, or any other baked treats as desired. Spread or pipe the frosting evenly for an attractive and delicious finish.
Notes
- Use ripe, fresh strawberries for the best flavor and natural sweetness.
- If you prefer a smoother frosting without bits of fruit, strain the strawberry juice or use a blender before adding it to the buttercream.
- Keep the frosting refrigerated if not using immediately, and bring it to room temperature before spreading.
- This frosting is best used the same day for freshness but can be stored in the fridge for up to 2 days.
- To make the frosting more stable for piping, consider adding a teaspoon of meringue powder or cornstarch.
