This Sweet Chili Ground Chicken recipe is a quick and flavorful dish combining tender ground chicken with a vibrant sweet chili sauce. Enhanced by fresh vegetables and a mix of tangy and savory sauces, it’s perfect for a fast weeknight meal that doesn’t compromise on taste.

  • Total Time: 20 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings

Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon oil
  • 1 pound ground chicken (or beef)
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 1 red bell pepper, diced (optional)
  • 1 yellow bell pepper, diced (optional)
  • 4 cloves garlic, chopped

Sauce and Garnishes

  • 3 tablespoons sweet chilli sauce
  • 2 tablespoons fish sauce
  • 2 tablespoons lime juice (or rice vinegar)
  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
  • 1 tablespoon cilantro, chopped
  • 2 green onions, thinly sliced

Instructions

  1. Cook the Chicken: Heat the oil in a pan over medium-high heat. Add the ground chicken and cook it while breaking it apart with a spoon, continuing for about 5 minutes until it is no longer pink.
  2. Cook Vegetables: Add the diced onion and optional bell peppers to the pan with the chicken. Sauté until the vegetables are tender and fragrant, approximately 5 to 8 minutes.
  3. Add Sauces and Garlic: Stir in the chopped garlic, sweet chili sauce, fish sauce, lime juice (or rice vinegar), and oyster sauce. Mix everything well and cook for about 1 minute until the sauce becomes fragrant and slightly thickened.
  4. Finish and Garnish: Remove from heat and stir in the chopped cilantro and sliced green onions. Serve immediately and enjoy your flavorful sweet chili ground chicken!

Notes

  • You can substitute ground beef for chicken if preferred.
  • Adjust the amount of sweet chili sauce to your desired sweetness and heat level.
  • For a gluten-free option, ensure oyster sauce and fish sauce are gluten-free certified.
  • Serve with steamed rice or as a filling for wraps or lettuce cups for a lighter meal.
  • Fresh lime juice can be swapped with rice vinegar for a milder acidity in the sauce.
