Ingredients
Chicken Wings
- 2 pounds chicken drummettes
- 2 Tablespoons potato starch
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- Freshly ground pepper, to taste
Sauce
- 1 bottle Buffalo wing sauce (recommended: Primal Palate brand)
Other
- Olive oil spray, for the air fryer basket and wings
Instructions
- Pat chicken dry: Use paper towels to thoroughly pat the chicken drummettes dry, removing as much moisture as possible to ensure crispiness.
- Prepare coating: In a large bowl, whisk together potato starch, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, and freshly ground pepper.
- Coat wings: Add the dried chicken wings to the bowl with the seasoned potato starch mixture and stir well to coat each piece evenly.
- Preheat air fryer basket: Spray the air fryer basket lightly with olive oil spray and preheat the air fryer to 400°F (204°C).
- Air fry wings in batches: Place the coated wings in a single layer in the basket, spraying the tops lightly with olive oil spray. Air fry for 20 to 23 minutes, shaking the basket every few minutes to prevent sticking and ensure even cooking. Repeat this process with the second batch of wings.
- Warm buffalo sauce: Heat the buffalo wing sauce gently on the stovetop or in the microwave until warm.
- Coat wings with sauce: Toss the cooked wings in the warmed buffalo sauce until fully coated. Serve immediately with your preferred sides and dips.
Notes
- Make sure chicken wings are completely dry before coating for maximum crispiness.
- Use potato starch instead of flour or cornstarch for a crispier texture.
- Shake the basket frequently during cooking to prevent sticking and promote even browning.
- You can adjust the spice level by choosing a milder or spicier buffalo sauce.
- Serve with celery sticks, carrot sticks, and ranch or blue cheese dressing for a classic pairing.
