Ingredients
Base Ingredients
- 2 teaspoons oil
- 3 green onions, chopped
- 8 ounce package cream cheese, softened and cubed
- 3 cups cooked shredded chicken
- 1 cup shredded Monterey Jack cheese
- ¼ cup hot honey (plus more for drizzling)
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder
- ½ teaspoon salt (plus more to taste)
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 425°F to prepare for baking the dip until perfectly bubbly and melted.
- Mix Cream Cheese Mixture: In a large bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, chopped green onions, shredded cooked chicken, and shredded Monterey Jack cheese. Stir well until the mixture is smooth and uniform.
- Add Seasonings: Stir in the hot honey, garlic powder, and salt. Mix thoroughly to evenly distribute the flavors. Taste and add a little more salt if needed to balance the sweet and spicy flavors.
- Prepare Dish: Pour the oil into a cast iron skillet or an 8×8 baking dish and swirl to coat the bottom and sides. This helps prevent sticking and adds a slight crispness to the edges.
- Assemble Dip: Pour the prepared chicken and cheese mixture into the skillet or baking dish, spreading it evenly. Top the dip with the shredded cheddar cheese to create a melty, golden crust.
- Bake the Dip: Place the dish in the preheated oven and bake for 16-18 minutes until the dip is hot, gooey, bubbling around the edges, and the cheese topping is melted and slightly browned.
- Cool and Serve: Remove the dip from the oven and allow it to cool for a few minutes to set slightly. Drizzle additional hot honey over the top before serving if desired, then serve warm with your favorite chips, crackers, or vegetable sticks.
Notes
- If you prefer a spicier dip, increase the amount of hot honey or add a pinch of cayenne pepper.
- This dip can be made ahead and refrigerated; bake just before serving.
- Substitute cooked rotisserie chicken for convenience.
- Use a baking dish of similar size if a cast iron skillet is not available.
- Serve with tortilla chips, pita bread, or fresh vegetables for dipping.
